답니다

Warm narrating 'and so it was'

-답니다 rounds off a piece of information for an audience, in the friendly voice of somebody telling a story: 이후에 더 즐기다가 돌아갔답니다 'and afterwards she enjoyed herself a while longer and went home.' It is polite and slightly performed, which is why narration, captions and broadcasters use it — 그렇답니다, 아로하 여러분들 'and that's how it is, everyone.' It reads as gentler than a plain -습니다.
