Onto, into (where something goes)

Marks the place something goes into or onto: into the wok, into water, onto the biscuit, onto this spot. Plain 에 marks location neutrally, while 에다가 keeps the focus on the target of the action and sounds chattier — you hear it far more than you read it. The 가 can drop, leaving 에다, and after 여기, 거기 and 저기 it shrinks further to 여기다, 거기다.
