Formal 'since / on the grounds that'
-으므로 gives a reason in the register of rules and rulings, not conversation: 유리창 근처는 유리가 깨지면 다칠 위험이 있으므로 'since there is a risk of injury near windows if the glass breaks.' Variety shows borrow it to announce a verdict with mock officialdom — 송지효 씨를 아웃시켰으므로 고급 힌트 드리겠습니다 'as you eliminated Ji-hyo, you get a premium hint.' In speech you would say -으니까 instead.
