으려

Trying to; in order to

The same intention marker as 으려고 with the 고 dropped, which makes it terser and a little more written: we came to eat jjamppong, they tried to take over the company, we tried to catch it. It nearly always leads straight into 하다, 오다, 가다 or 들다, and the line about the attitude of trying to beat whoever is in front of you uses that last one. Ordinary speech keeps the 고.
