으려는

Trying to, attached to a noun

It marks an attempt or intention and hangs it on a noun: the Running Man trying to hail a cab, Kyung Hwan trying to put down the tongs, the effort to find the good points. It is the noun-modifying form of 으려고 하다, so the action is intended or under way, not finished; the line about the husband persuading his wife not to have a child works the same way. Show captions lean on it constantly to describe what is happening on screen.
