Also spelled euse, useyo

polite request, or honorific statement

Adds respect toward the person being talked about or spoken to. As a command it is the everyday polite please do this: 물을 넣으세요 "add water", 자기 자신을 믿으세요 "believe in yourself". As a statement or question it raises the subject rather than ordering anyone — 재미있으세요 "he's funny" (said of one's father), 괜찮으세요? "are you all right?", 아는 거 있으세요? "do you happen to know any?". It attaches to consonant stems; vowel stems take 세요 (하세요, 가세요).

Register: polite, honorific
