polite "it is", written 이에요

The half of 이에요 that follows the linking 이 on a noun ending in a consonant: 곳이에요 is "it's a place", 코미디언이에요 is "we're comedians", 네 명이에요 is "that's four people". Same job and same politeness as 예요 — which one you see is decided purely by whether the noun ends in a consonant or a vowel. Its negative partner 아니에요 ("it isn't") behaves the same way. In these clips it is the workhorse for introducing yourself, describing a place, or stating a plain fact to the camera.
