Turns a description into 'in that way' — one line orders the version made with less soup, using it to specify how. Most of these lines are the frozen everyday words built from it: 이렇게 'like this', 어떻게 'how', 되게 'really', which is where a learner meets it first without noticing the ending. After a verb it also sets up a purpose, 'so that': one line says don't tell them yet, so it can be brought up in the car.
