하고

with, and — joining two nouns

Joins a noun to another noun, meaning and in a list or with as a partner: 가족하고 같이 시간을 보내요 "I spend time with my family", 나하고 싸우자 "fight with me". It sits in the middle of the politeness range — plainer and more spoken than 와/과, but less chummy than 랑/이랑, so it is the version textbooks and careful speakers use. It is written the same as the verb 하다 plus 고 (do and then), so read it from the position: after a noun it is this particle, after a verb stem it is not.
