to or from a person, casual

Attaches to a person or animal to mark who receives something or who it came from: 저한테 전화하지 마세요 is "don't call me", 여러분들한테 말씀을 드려야겠다 is "I should tell all of you". With a verb like 맞다 it flips to the source — 친구들한테 맞은 is "got hit by them". It only goes on living things; for places and organisations you use 에 instead. 에게 means the same thing but sounds written and formal, and 께 is the honorific version for someone senior; 한테 is what people actually say out loud.

Register: spoken, casual to neutral
