'O God!' — solemn address

-이시여 is how you call out to something exalted, above all in 신이시여 'O God': 아, 신이시여, 숨을 쉴 수 없어요 'oh God, I can't breathe.' Because it is so grand, it is easy to use as a joke on something trivial — 요거트의 신이시여 부디... 'O god of yogurt, please...' and 소스 장인이시여 'O master of sauces.' Reach for it only when you mean drama, sincere or otherwise.

Register: solemn, or comic exaggeration
