Concedes the worst case and holds the position anyway: even if it's me, even if other people think you're sharp, even if they'll be covered in food smells later, even if it takes a long time. It is more emphatic and more written than the everyday 어도, so captions use it for a touch of gravity. Adding 요 makes it polite without softening the concession.
