It raises something you heard the other person say and asks them to confirm it: you said you would introduce me meaningfully, I hear you are making a compilation for your family, I hear all sorts of events are held there. Used mid-sentence it reports someone's words as the background to something else, as in the line about people getting excited because a boy version was coming. Most of these lines add 요 to be polite.
