는다기

'Rather than saying…'

Every line here is -는다기보다(는), which corrects one description by offering a better one: 내가 듣는다기보다 들린다! 'it's less that I listen to them and more that I just hear them.' It is the standard way to fine-tune a word you are not happy with — 알람을 못 듣는다기보다 안 듣는다고 할 수 있죠 'it's not that I can't hear the alarm, more that I don't.' Very common in interviews, where people keep adjusting their own phrasing.
