'Far from doing X — the opposite'

-는커녕 sets up something that did not happen and then delivers something worse: 활력을 얻기는커녕 잃어버림 'far from gaining energy, he lost it.' It attaches either to a noun (사료는커녕 'never mind feed') or to a verb turned into -기 (막기는커녕 'far from blocking it'). Editors love it for captions that puncture an expectation.
