Whether, what — often left hanging

Wraps a question up inside a sentence — how the white hair looks, how fast an elevator is, how many there are — so it can hang off 'I wonder', 'let me check' or 'tell me'. Repeated over two options it becomes 'whether A or B', as in the line asking whether that was a request or a threat. In these lines it also ends the sentence outright and leaves the question open, which is the teaser voice of variety-show narration and interview captions. It follows descriptions and nouns; 는지 is the form for action verbs.
