The question of whether (modifier)

Takes a question somebody asked and puts it in front of a noun so you can talk about it: the question of what I did as a director, people asking whether we're sisters, asking why only 'right angle' was written down. It commonly leads into 질문, 말, 소리 or 거 — and 냐는 거야 amounts to 'what I'm asking is...'. It is the modifier form of 냐고, which quotes the same question but feeds it into a verb of asking.
