Means 'only that and nothing else', and it hits harder than plain 만. It leans on what comes after it: 뿐이다 says 'is only' — the only father you have, only fifteen minutes, my only friend — and 뿐만 아니라 says 'not only that, but also'. Unlike 만, it cannot sit at the end of a phrase by itself; it needs 이다 or 아니라 behind it.
