-라거나 offers one item from an open list without committing to it, and it very often wraps a quoted remark: '한국에 와서 공부해야겠다'라거나 'or things like "I should come study in Korea".' It also works straight off a noun — 명절이라거나 이럴 때만 쉬었다고 해요 'they only rested at holidays and times like that.' Its near neighbour -라든가 does the same job; both keep the example loose on purpose.
