Muttered 'what on earth…?'

-람 turns a question into a grumble aimed at nobody: 저게 뭐람? 'what on earth is that?', 이게 무슨 소리람? 'what's all this commotion about?' The speaker is not asking for an answer, only registering bewilderment or irritation. It has an old-fashioned ring and shows up here mostly as an on-screen caption for someone's reaction. (하람 in two lines is a person's name.)
