Throws somebody's own words back at them, usually as a mild challenge: you said it's a goulash hotspot, didn't you say it was precious, you told me to wear them. Because it is a quotation, it works just as well for a question that is really an accusation. Inside a sentence it means 'saying that' and reports a claim someone made, as in the line about a man causing trouble while claiming to be your son. It attaches to nouns; 다며 and ㄴ다며 do the same for descriptions and action verbs.
