라는데

Says it's X — what do you think?

-라는데 passes on what someone else said something IS, and leaves it hanging for the listener to react to: 글로벌 1위라는데? 'I heard it's No. 1 globally?' It carries a shrug — the speaker is not vouching for the claim. It follows a noun or 아니다 (본인이 아니라는데 'he says he isn't'); after a verb or adjective you get -다는데 instead. Every line here is casual talk.
