Marks the object, after a vowel

Marks the thing the action is done to — the plane you take, the latte you bring, the topic you prepare, the friend you meet. This is the shape after a word ending in a vowel; 을 is the same marker after a consonant. It is routinely dropped in casual speech, and in fast speech it can collapse onto the previous syllable as a bare ㄹ.
