와

and — joins two nouns

Links two nouns into a list, the way 'and' does: 침대와 책상 is 'a bed and a desk', 순두부와 일반 두부 is 'soft tofu and firm tofu'. It attaches straight onto the first noun with no space, which is why it can be hard to spot; after a consonant the same particle appears as 과. 하고 and 랑 do the same job, but 와 sounds more written or composed, and 랑 is what friends actually say out loud.
