Politeness tag stuck on the end

The politeness tag. Attached to the end of almost anything, it makes the sentence courteous without making it formal; take it off and the same sentence becomes casual. Its most useful trick is that it also attaches to endings that are not sentence-final, so a speaker can be polite while their thought is still hanging — that is why so many lines here trail off with it. Statements, questions, and reactions all take it unchanged, with only the intonation telling them apart.
